MTA to Bring Vending Machines to 26 Subway Stations

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced that vending machines selling beverages and snacks are coming to former retail units throughout the subway system, starting with three stations where machines are already open for business:

• 23 St, R, W
• 116 St, 6

By being housed inside former retail spaces, the vending machines do not take away space from platforms, and are instead seamlessly outfitted into the existing station environment flush with station walls. They offer customers a quick and easy option to purchase a snack or beverage on their subway journey and are part of the MTA’s effort to activate former retail spaces while enhancing the experience of customers riding the subway.

The machines come following a competitive request-for-proposals (RFP) process in which the MTA selected CC Vending, Inc., to install and operate vending machines across.

For the initial rollout of the program, CC Vending, Inc., has partnered with Coca-Cola to offer customers a variety of beverages and snacks. To date, three vending machines have been installed at three subway stations. The first vending machine was installed at 23 St RW station this month.

Per the agreement, CC Vending, Inc., can expand offerings to include retail merchandise, technology products, health and beauty products, and other convenience items. The license agreement with CC Vending Inc. is for a five-year term, with an option to extend for an additional five years.

Additional installations are planned for this year and into 2027 as the program continues to expand throughout the system.
