The US Open of Surfing Huntington Beach presented by Shiseido, a men’s and women’s World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS) event, has been called ON for an 8:00am PDT start. Two-to-three foot swell pulses into the Huntington Beach Pier for some of the world’s top competitors to begin their week-long campaigns toward a major victory.
Round 1 Heat 1 opens with recent Championship Tour (CT) Corona Open Mexico victor Jack Robinson (AUS) taking on Brasilian threat Rafael Teixeira, Tahiti’s rising star Kauli Vaast (FRA), and one of Hawaii’s prodigies Barron Mamiya.
The opening day will also feature CT and Olympian Kolohe Andino (USA) (Heat 10), recent WSL Rip Curl Finals contender Conner Coffin (USA) (Heat 12), 2018 US Open runner-up Griffin Colapinto (USA) (Heat 13), 2020 Corona Open China victor Shun Murakami (JPN) (Heat 3), 2015 US Open winner Hiroto Ohhara (JPN) (Heat 5), CT qualification threat Jake Marshall(USA) (Heat 5), and former CT competitors Micahel Rodrigues (BRA) (Heat 15), Jesse Mendes (BRA) (Heat 16), Caio Ibelli (BRA) (Heat 17), and many more.
