Cycling has always lived in the soul of our brand, from the early 1950s when Adi Dassler began creating cycling footwear, through countless triumphs of the three white stripes on black leather. And so, as we saw more lace up for cycling over the years, we decided it’s time for us to get back on the road again too.
Consultations with cycling communities in London, Los Angeles and Germany highlighted that the culture of cycling is changing and showed a greater demand for versatile products that fit into lives on and off the bike.
To kick it all off, we are announcing The Road Shoe, our first new road cycling shoes since 2005, bringing high performance footwear to this growing audience, with the ambition to improve accessibility to the sport and allowing more athletes to clip in with the latest technology.
Inspired by the iconic silhouettes of the past, the plate of the shoe also takes elements from the brand’s football boot designs, using recycled material with added fiberglass elements to provide the stiffness that road cyclists expect from their soleplate, without the added weight.
The upper is made with a high-performance PRIMEGREEN upper, made from 100% recycled material, shaped to provide an intuitive feel and function, while the lace tightening system and toggle ensures that cyclists of all levels of experience are able to lock in and achieve a perfect fit.
The lead colourway for The Road Shoe is a classic black design with white detailing, offering cyclists a blank canvas to combine the shoe with various outfits. Further colorways will be available at launch and later in SS21.
