Administrative Inspector (Housing) – Accepting Applications Through 5/27
Administrative inspectors (Housing), under general direction, serve as the chief inspector for field operations; plan, direct and coordinate the various inspection units comprising a borough inspection force or a city-wide inspection force; direct the preparation of field work schedules and assignments to ensure maximum productivity; plan and direct cycle inspections, surveys and special investigations; and coordinate activities with other divisions within the Department of Housing Preservation and Development to maintain and preserve the housing stock. All administrative inspectors (Housing) perform related work.
Construction Project Manager – Accepting Applications Through 5/27
Construction project managers, under supervision, perform construction management work and/or initiate and supervise work in the construction field including overseeing rehabilitation projects; assisting in overseeing routine reconstruction projects; perform difficult technical work in determining the need for and feasibility of construction work; oversee private contractors/vendors carrying out new construction, rehabilitation, repairs, alterations and/or structural maintenance work. All construction project managers perform related work.
Administrative Supervisor of Building Maintenance – Accepting Applications Through 5/27
Administrative supervisors of building maintenance, under general direction, serve as deputy to the director of a large city-wide bureau providing building rehabilitation, repair and maintenance services to city-owned or supervised buildings or emergency repairs to privately owned buildings; this includes either coordinating the day to day operations of a large technical procurement and quality assurance program or a large technical support program or a large, field based city-wide apartment repair program. All administrative supervisors of building maintenance perform related work.
Thermostat Repairer – Accepting Applications Through 5/27
Under supervision, thermostat repairers test, maintain, repair and replace various types of thermostats and related equipment used for the control of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. They install tubing, pipe and fittings; check existing control installations to determine nature and cause of trouble and make necessary repairs and/or adjustments; use pneumatic and/or electrical devices to check control installations; set and calibrate thermostats on walls and fixtures; requisition parts as required; supervise assigned personnel as required; keep work records; and perform related work.
High Pressure Plant Tender – Accepting Applications Through 5/27
High pressure plant tenders, under direct supervision, tend oil, gas or coal fired high pressure boilers, incinerator furnaces and related equipment, and assist in the maintenance and repair of this equipment. They may be assigned to inspect, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning and related auxiliary systems and equipment. They hand fire high pressure boilers using solid fuels, and stoker equipment and incinerator furnaces using burnable refuse; clean fires; tend and operate stoker equipment, oil, gas, or coal fired high pressure boilers and incinerator furnaces, and related equipment. All high pressure plant tenders perform related work.
