Isabella Rossellini at Freshkills, 2025, Sarah Yuster

March 27 – May 29, 2026

NYC Parks invites visitors to discover the many faces—and voices—of environmental stewardship within the lustrous oil paintings of Staten Island-based artist Sarah Yuster, on view at the Arsenal Gallery in Central Park this spring.

Sarah Yuster: Outside Voices features “in situ” portraits of biological science professionals, ecological conservation activists, and hobbyists.

From actress Isabella Rossellini, champion of the Ramble in Central Park, to Myisha Humphrey, NYC Parks’ Staten Island nursery operations supervisor, this intersectional and cross-generational presentation highlights the importance of diversity within environmental stewardship.

Interspersed throughout the exhibition are small landscape and nature studies, many of which were completed by Yuster as part of her ongoing artist residency at Freshkills Park, Staten Island. A major feat in land reclamation, engineering, and ecological restoration, Freshkills was previously the world’s largest landfill and was transformed into thriving natural space.

This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, visit nyc.gov/parks/art. Groups of five or more people can call 212-360-8143 or email artandantiquities@parks.nyc.gov to pre-register.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

*The Arsenal Gallery will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026.
