LIRR to Run Holiday Lights Train for the First Time 

Metro-North Doubles the Cheer with a New Diesel Train to Join LIRR and Metro-North Trains

Holiday Lights Trains welcome the season through New Year’s. The Holiday Lights Trains will be festooned with colorful exterior lights and special holiday-themed safety messages will play at selected stations. 

Building on last year’s wildly popular Holiday Lights Train, Metro-North will spread double the cheer with by adding a diesel train for the first time, bringing holiday lights to every part of Metro-North’s East of Hudson territory. The Long Island Rail Road holiday lights train will operate along all electric branches. Both railroads will operate on a random rotation of regularly scheduled trains all times of day and night.
