GET READY TO DANCE: UPTOWN BOUNCE RETURNS THIS WEEK!

Thursday, July 24 | 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Uptown Bounce returns for its 12th year on Thursday, July 24—with a vibrant celebration of Nuyorican culture! The evening features live salsa music and lessons with The Salsa Project, interactive art-making workshops, domino games, free gallery tours of Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop (closing August 3!), delicious food and drinks from Artizen, and a photo booth to capture the memories.

Just across the street, our friends at the Museum of the City of New York are turning up the nostalgia with live DJ sets, retro arcade games, and a full-on 80s throwback party. This high-energy summer block party is free and open to all. Come ready to dance, create, and celebrate community with us!

This free event is open to all ages and will take place rain or shine.

Art Workshops & DJ Sets

6:00 PM

Join El Museo’s educators for a hands-on art-making workshop that sparks creativity for all ages. Then, keep the energy flowing and hit the dance floor with DJ Andy “El Mas Bailable,” spinning the best in Latin beats.

Salsa Lessons & Museum Exhibition Tours

6:15 PM

Get your groove on with salsa lessons led by TJ Pennant in a lively, beginner-friendly dance session. Prefer to take in some art? Explore Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop with a guided tour led by educator Julia Justo and dive into the artist’s vibrant world of color, form, and storytelling.

Live Percussion Set with DJ

7:00 PM

Experience the rhythm live as percussionist Ricky Rosa kicks off his first 30-minute set, blending beats alongside a live DJ for an electrifying performance.

A Second Look at Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop

7:15 PM

Join educator Julia Justo for a second guided walkthrough of Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop and experience the bold colors and layered stories that define this compelling exhibition.

DJ Moka Takes the Stage

7:30 PM

DJ Moka will take over the turntables, bringing a fresh wave of beats to keep the night moving and feet grooving.

Live Percussion with Ricky Rosa & DJ Moka

8:00 PM

Ricky Rosa returns for a second high-energy set, this time teaming up with DJ Moka for a powerful fusion of live percussion and dance floor-ready rhythms.

Final Tour: Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop

8:15 PM

Wrap up the evening with a final guided tour by Julia Justo, offering one more chance to experience the vibrance of Candida Alvarez: Circle, Point, Hoop.
