Experience Family-Friendly Programming at Backyard at Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards’ Backyard is full of family fun this year with exciting new programming, performances, movie screenings, and more.

On Saturday, May 17th from 11AM – 4PM, Hudson Yards will transform into a lively destination for free, family-friendly fun during Family Day, kicking off a full season of family-friendly programming for Backyard at Hudson Yards presented by Wells Fargo.

From live music with Mozart for Munchkins to magic shows and performances from crowd-favorite Hopalong Andrew, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy. With face painting, balloon artists, exclusive dining and shopping offers, and free admission for kids to Vessel and Edge, it’s the perfect way to welcome the Summer season. 

Hudson Yards offers an entire day of family fun. Outside on the Public Square and Gardens, experience an exciting lineup of activities including special performances from veteran children’s performer Hopalong Andrew; Mozart for Munchkins, an interactive concert experience for the whole family; and an engaging puppet show with WonderSpark Puppets with fun, wonder, and surprises for all ages. Inside The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, children may enjoy face painting and custom balloons designed by balloon artists in addition to many shopping and dining offers for the whole family. Wells Fargo provides stroller parking for all Family Fun event attendees. 

Also on Family Day, Vessel and Edge are also offering free admission for children under 12 with the purchase of an adult ticket which are redeemable in-person at guest services.

Family programming includes: 

• WonderSpark Puppets – New to the Backyard program this year, an interactive puppet show will inspire imaginative play and interpret childhood classics such as The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks & The Three Bears, and more. 

WonderSpark Puppets performances will take place Saturdays at 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM EST: June 14^th, July 12^th, August 9^th, September 13^th, and October 11^th.

• Mozart for Munchkins – Enjoy high-quality, interactive concerts with a mix of jazz and classical programs featuring musicians from top orchestras and Broadway in a fun, relaxed setting. Mozart for Munchkins invites children to play, explore, and discover the joy of live music. 

Mozart for Munchkin performances will take place Saturdays at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EST: June 21^st, July 19^th, August 16^th, and October 18^th.  

Family Day will be back again in the fall on September 20^th. The fall lineup will be announced soon.
