Two Weddings, Two Surprise Proposals, and a Vow Renewal on the Red Steps
On Valentineโs Day, New Yorkers and visitors looking for romance in New York City will find it at the Crossroads of the World with Love in Times Square. Each year, lovers surprise their partners with marriage proposals under Times Squareโs iconic Everest (formerly American Eagle) screen; couples tie the knot on Duffy Square; and New Yorkers and visitors renew their vows on the Red Steps. These real-life love stories will unfold in front of the winning design of the 17th annual Times Square Artsโ Love & Design Competition, Love Ever After that will be unveiled in Times Square on February 4. Love in Times Square will follow this schedule on Valentineโs Day:
11:00 am โ Wedding #1
11:30 am โ Surprise Proposal #1 on the Everest billboard
12:00 pm โ Wedding #2
12:30 pm โ Surprise Proposal #2 on the Everest billboard
6:00 pm โ Vow Renewal Ceremony on the Red Steps

- At 11:00 am the first couple will get hitched right in the heart of Times Square. After a three-and-a-half-year romance, this couple is ready for a unique wedding experience for them and their two adult children. Having both had traditional wedding experiences in the past, they are ready for something truly unique and different in the middle of Times Square.
- At 12:00 pm a second couple will formalize their union. Having met in Times Square back in 2008, this couple is ready to make their commitment to each other in the heart of Times Square where it all began.

- At 11:30 am and 12:30pm, a diverse set of lucky lovers, will be surprised with a Valentineโs Day gift that they โ and everyone else in Times Square โ wonโt see coming and wonโt soon forget: a surprise marriage proposal message will appear on Times Squareโs iconic Everest billboard.
Beginning at 6:00 pm, a celebration of love and commitment will take place outside on the iconic Red Steps in Times Square. The ceremony is free and open to people of all ages, genders, religions, races, and backgrounds and will include a live performance from a member of the cast of Broadwayโs A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical. The backdrop for all these festivities will be the winning design of Times Square Artsโ 17th Annual Love & Design Competition, Love Ever After. which is a 50-foot geometric heart sculpture constructed of over four dozen oyster cages designed to create beauty through simplicity, where reuse, regrowth, and love for the environment and community are intertwined. The work is presented with the support of curatorial partner The World Around and collaborator Billion Oyster Project, a non-profit on a mission to restore oyster reefs to the New York Harbor as a nature-based solution to improve habitat quality.
