Third Annual Trick-or-Streets Halloween Event Is Largest Ever

New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced 147 car-free Trick-or-Streets locations for Halloween. The initiative will help children enjoy the holiday and allow New Yorkers to safely utilize our collective front yards – our streets. This year marks the third annual Trick-or-Streets—the largest ever. For a map of each location, visit nyc.gov/trickorstreets.

Part of the city’s Open Streets, Plaza, and Public Realm programming initiatives, Trick-or-Streets allows groups of residents, community organizations, institutions, and other neighborhood associations to create car-free streets for New Yorkers to safely participate in Halloween activities.

At Trick or Streets locations, New Yorkers can expect festive programming, performances, arts and crafts, fitness classes, giveaways, and more.

The Open Streets program has led to the redesign city streets to create permanent, new pedestrian space. Since 2022, NYC DOT has pedestrianized more than one million square feet of space across the five boroughs – improving street safety and providing places for friends and neighbors to congregate and build community.
