A night of drinking and dancing awaits. Celebrate Brazilian independence day with a night of Samba at Sounds of Brazil! 

Sounds of Brazil’s getting back to their roots with Samba Sunset, a dinner & drinks happy hour with free RSVP, samba dance lessons, dance performances, and a live DJ playing samba, baile funk, forro, MPB, and more. Sip on happy hour caipirinhas, grab a bite to eat, learn some moves, and celebrate the music of Brasil.

For over 40 years, Sounds of Brazil (aka SOBโ€™s) has been widely known as the premier Brazilian venue in New York City, hosting Brazilian events ranging from samba dance lessons and bossa nova brunches to concerts and baile funk raves. Sounds of Brazil’s history with Brazilian music goes back to the 80โ€™s, when legends including Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, Ed Motta, Astrud Gilberto, and Marisa Monte got their start on our stage. 

Doors open at 6:00pm, dance lessons with โ€œthe queen of sambaโ€ Danielle Lima start at 7:00pm, and entry is free with RSVP before 7:00pm. Live performances from Viva Brazil dancers begin at 8:30pm. Music by DJ Greg Caz. Hosted by Silvana Magda. Tables with drink and dinner service are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. For reservations of 10+ people, please email booking@sobs.com
