Celebrate 100 years of New York State Parks at FDR Four Freedoms State Park on Roosevelt Island.

• I Love My Park Day is on Saturday, May 4, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The free event presents a perfect opportunity to prepare FDR Four Freedoms State Park for the start of the season by revitalizing the Banned Book Library, sprucing up seating and replenishing mulch. I Love My Park Day is the largest single-day volunteer event in the state of New York. By participating, you are not just giving back to your community but also making a significant impact on this stunning memorial honoring freedom and democracy. No experience is necessary. All tools and training will be provided. Online registration is suggested. Suggested ages 13+.
• Protect Freedom of Speech. The Four Freedoms Park Conservancy will showcase a Banned Book Library, available for families to view from Sunday, May 5, to Friday, May 31. A unique Banned Book Panel moderated by Editorial Director and Publisher of The Nation Katrina vanden Heuvel will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This panel will delve into the complex issue of censorship and the importance of freedom of speech, a cause championed by President Franklin D.
