“Domino Effect” by Ingrid Ingrid, a production of Quartier des Spectacles Partnership, will be on view at 28 Liberty St. through Mar 6, 2024
Interactive installation to bring a cascading experience of lights and music to Lower Manhattan
“Domino Effect,” the Downtown Alliance’s newest public art installation, will be on view starting January 29 at Fosun Plaza in front of 28 Liberty St., where it will offer Lower Manhattan’s office workers, residents and visitors an interactive and engaging opportunity to create music as a team through a life-size take on the game of dominos. The installation will be on view through March 6.
Presented in partnership with Quartier des Spectacles International, “Domino Effect” was created by Montreal-based design studio Ingrid Ingrid. The installation consists of 120 giant dominos distributed across 12 tables in Fosun Plaza. Each domino has a color and a sound all its own, inviting visitors to create an orchestra of sound and light through interplay. Every set features a different instrument profile (vocals, percussion, marimba, balafon or flute), and each domino has its own sound.
“Domino Effect will be a bright and playful addition to the neighborhood and will provide some inspiration to spend a little more time outdoors during the long winter season,” said Downtown Alliance President Jessica Lappin.
“Fosun Plaza is a mainstay for the arts within the community, which is why we are excited to bring this engaging installation to Lower Manhattan,” said Tom Costanzo, Global Partner of Fosun and CEO of Four Trees Asset Management. “Our ongoing partnership with the Alliance has distinguished 28 Liberty as a cultural hub for residents of Lower Manhattan and the New York City community.”
“We’re thrilled to present the dazzling installation Domino Effect by Ingrid Ingrid in downtown New York. Until early March, enjoy toppling dominoes in cascades of light and sound with friends and family. We hope this experience will bring joy and beautiful moments of collaboration to everyone visiting Lower Manhattan in the coming weeks,” said QDSi Executive Director Guillaume Aniorté.
