First Year Members of 17th Precinct and Engine Company 8 to face off in Fun Competitions

Sutton Place Parks Conservancy (SPPC), in partnership with the NYC Parks Department, is hosting its Third Annual Spooktacular Halloween Celebration. Festivities will light up Sutton Place Parks from East 55th Street to East 57th Street on Saturday, October 28th, from 2PM to 5PM. (Rain date is Sunday, October 29, same time.)

For the first time, the Halloween Celebration features the Sutton Spooktacular Showdown at 3:30 when members of the NYPD’S 17th Precinct and FDNY’S Engine Company 8 engage in a friendly competition of games including Simon Says, Hula Hooping, and Sponge Water Transport. Kids will be able to board a firetruck and police car and take photos with New York’s Finest and New York’s Bravest.

Sutton Place South between East 55th and East 57th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from noon to 6 PM.

The Celebration kicks off at 2PM with the Kids’ Costume Parade led off by Trumpeter Jonathan Saraga and Drummer Vin Scilla. After the march, kids will enjoy arts & crafts activities organized by the NY Kids Club and games and sports activities run by the Constance Baker Motley Rec Center of NYC Parks. The Great Charlini magician will entertain from 2:15 to 2:55.

Pet owners and their furry friends will strut their stuff at 4 PM in the Pooches and Pups Parade that travels across the park to the cheers of onlookers.

This year’s celebration – free to all participants — is generously sponsored by Republic Bank, NY Kids Club, and A la Mode Ice Cream Shoppe.
