Staten Island track complexโsite of numerous national recordsโprepares to kick off ninth seasonย
NYC Parks today announced the 2023-24 Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Track & Field schedule for cross country and indoor meets. The 2023-24 season will see more than 40 high school meets, over 15 college meets, and more than 15 youth meets, as the best track and field athletes from across the nation head to Staten Island to compete.
Among the marquee events of the upcoming season are the Ocean Breeze Elite High School Series, which kicks off on December 27 with the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival. The Ocean Breeze Freedom Games take place on January 6 and 7, becoming a two-day meet for the first-time. In addition, the Ocean Breeze Invitationalโscheduled for February 3 and 4โhas grown into one of the largest indoor meets in the country and is the largest one-day competition for girls in the United States. Ocean Breeze’s Elite High School Series will close out on February 24 with the Ocean Breeze Elite Invitational, followed by the New York State High School Championships in March.
In addition to these meets, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will host free community programs, including the popular Miles Mania Series, which allows participants to run the 800-meter, one mile, or two-mile events and compete to win gold in their respective age group.

Since its inaugural season in 2015, the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex has seen 19 national records and one world record. Two national records were set at Ocean Breeze last season, as Kampton Kam of the University of Pennsylvania set the Singaporean National Indoor Record in the High Jump at 2.06 meters and Nishorn Pierre of Holy Family University set the Grenadian Indoor National Record in the High Jump at 2.18 meters.
NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is a 135,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art indoor trackย andย field facility, the first indoorย siteย in the United States to be recognized as a certified International Association of Athletics Federationsย facility.ย Ocean Breeze has hosted 18 major championships, including five National Championships,ย since opening in 2015.ย The complex also serves as a community resource, offering recreational amenitiesย and programmingย to Staten Island residents.ย
