Anthony Evrard, co-founder and CEO of Court 16, a private tennis club offering tennis and pickleball for children and adults, announces the opening of its new 26,000-square-foot flagship, at City Point, in Downtown Brooklyn. The new Court 16, located at 445 Albee Square West, will include seven courts, a contemporary lounge featuring Ligne Roset designs, and the most comprehensive Babolat product line of racquets in New York City. The Court 16 Club Grand Opening, on August 28, coincides with the ’23 US Open Tennis Tournament finals, a primetime for racquet sports for adults and kids alike.
Anthony Evrard, co-founder and CEO of Court 16, comments, “Brooklyn is where our heart beats, and we are thrilled to be opening Court 16 at City Point, a lifestyle destination. Our biggest venue yet, the new flagship joins thriving locations in Long Island City and the Financial District. It will further our USTA-sanctioned approach of teaching racquet sports on courts, which increase in size as athletes graduate to higher levels.”
Paul Travis, President of Washington Square Partners, and co-partner at City Point adds, “Court 16 is a win-win for City Point and our growing community. With Abolitionist Park opening this fall, Downtown Brooklyn is becoming even more of a shopping and entertainment destination. Integrating sport and lifestyle, Court 16 is the perfect addition to our urban town square, joining recently announced openings including Fogo de Chão and DIG.”
Located on the fourth floor of City Point, Court 16 combines racquet sports with innovation in modern surroundings. The seven tennis and pickleball courts for kids and adults, range in size from 36 feet for the youngest beginner to full sized courts for seasoned players. Its modernity is elevated by the Ligne Roset Lounge, a design partnership with the French brand that has been creating furniture since 1860. To further underscore its commitment to racquet sports and tradition, Court 16’s Pro Shop will sell products exclusively from Babolat, the equipment company founded in Lyon, France in 1875.
Enrollment for the fall tennis season will begin immediately, offering tennis classes organized by skill and age for its kids’ academy members, signature adult tennis classes ranging from introductory to experienced levels, and dynamic pickleball programming.
