This Saturday, July 15 LMCC will kick up its annual summer Take Care Series at The Arts Center at Governors Island with two fun and free engaging arts programs:

Having seen just a glimpse of the current Session One class during a preview tour at the Arts Center last month, I feel the 1pm-5pm Open Studios program stands out as a great event to cover. Artist Hannah Lutz Winkler, for example, will be sharing work from an ongoing project focused on the island’s sheep landscaping crew, including work woven by the artist from the aforementioned sheep’s wool. Welcoming artists whose practice is self-directed and process-based and who would benefit from the unique resources and location of the Arts Center at Governors Island, LMCC residents are a rather singularly rooted and throughgoing cohort.

Other participating artists include Aaron CobbettAika AkhmetovaAna CordeiroAyling DominguezDaniel ClurmanDa’Niro Elle BrownEdgar MozaELENA BAJOErica ShiresJenny Eunjung ChoKaterina VoMarina GutierrezMaria Rodriguez JimenezMatt WhitmanNéstor Pérez-MolièrePhyllis SanfiorenzoPriscilla Stadler, and Sally Twin. These two July 15 events will be followed by further programs scheduled in August and September
