Caramoor presents two evenings in late July featuring Finnish violinist, conductor, and composer Pekka Kuusisto and celebrated American composer and pianist Nico Muhly.
On July 27, Pekka Kuusisto, a “one-of-a-kind” (Globe and Mail) violinist, teams up with Nico Muhly on the piano for an evening of unexpected musical connections. The program includes works by Muhly, Glass, Pärt, and others.
The next evening, on July 28, Eric Jacobsen conducts The Knights, described by the New York Times as “an adventurous young orchestra that has established a strong reputation for polished performances and imaginative programming.” They perform the New York premiere of Nico Muhly’s Shrink with Kuusisto, as violin soloist, as well as Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia No. 10; Copland’s Appalachian Spring, and Jacobsen’s A Shadow Under Every Light. There will be a pre-concert conversation with Jacobsen, Kuusisto and Muhly.
