Maker Park Radio’s Summer Music series, produced by community streaming radio station MakerParkRadio.nyc, presents two great not-to-be-missed Staten Island Saturday shows in July at Maker Park:
- Maker Park Radio’s 6-Year Anniversary Music and Art Fest on Saturday, July 8 featuring Geese, a solo set with Kevin Devine, THUS LOVE, and GIFT
- The 3rd Annual Roots Fest at Maker Park featuring Eli “Paperboy” Reed, Freddy DeBoe Band, B-Mack, Brewster Moonface and more on Saturday, July 22
Maker Park Radio’s 6-Year Anniversary Music and Art Fest features Psychedelic, Indie Rock, Shoegaze, and Folk music performances as well as an art show in the great outdoors at Maker Park on Saturday, July 8. Kevin Devine will headline the music bill with a solo performance; additional performing bands include Brooklyn artists Geese and GIFT, Vermont’s THUS LOVE, and local band Vega Maestro. There will also be a sideshow performance by Adam Realman, the President of Coney Island USA, as well as an art show and sale curated by tattoo artist Magie Serpica featuring local artists. Local vintage and craft vendors as well as Kristopher Johnson portrait photography will be on site. Local food vendors Bearded Barbecue and Shorty’s Roti Shop will be serving food alongside selections from local breweries Flagship Brewery and Killsboro Brewery.
On Saturday, July 22, Maker Park hosts the 3rd Annual Roots Fest, featuring soul performer Eli “Paperboy” Reed and his band, The Freddy DeBoe Band, B-Mack and local performers Brewster Moonface. Eli “Paperboy” Reed, fresh off of his appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, is a musician and producer whose soul music is influenced by classic R&B performers of the deep south. Freddy DeBoe, a touring musican with famed southern soul legend Lee Fields, brings the funk and the soul. B-Mack is the band of Bruce Mack, a talented blues, soul and funk musician, formerly of the Black Rock Coalition and the Burnt Sugar Orchestra. Brewster Moonface opens the night with sweet and sultry blues headlined by singer Julie Notwicz. The festival will have local market vendors, with food and beverages available from Shorty’s Roti Shop, The Burrito Bar, and Flagship and Killsboro breweries.
Both events are all ages, pet-friendly and family-friendly, with free entry for children ten and under. $15 tickets are available at the door and on Eventbrite (July 8 and July 22) with minimal service charges.
