Crab Napoleon

With Tiki-inspired menus, the new concept combines French Polynesian and South Pacific vibes and overlooks Brooklyn from the fourth-floor terrace of the hotel.

Hotel Indigo Williamsburg, an IHG Hotels & Resorts hotel in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, reopens its pool lounge and indoor-outdoor bar for the 2023 season starting today. Named Tatau—the Samoan word for ‘tattoo’ in Polynesia—the new venue draws inspiration from the South Pacific as a destination and Polynesian and Samoan cultures. Highlighting the destination’s alluring tropical setting and culinary influences that connote sunshine and warmth, Tatau Pool Lounge & Bar celebrates Polynesia’s rich cultural fabric through its custom logo. The small wave symbol is inspired by Polynesian tattoo art and was designed by the hotel’s neighbors at Flyrite Tattoo, a longstanding tattoo parlor adjacent to the hotel.

A welcomed alternative to the rowdy scenes around New York City, Tatau Pool Lounge & Bar offers a sophisticated, design-driven, and spacious lounge with an ambiance that connotes sunshine, warm breezes, and a carefree tropical holiday. Located on the hotel’s fourth-floor terrace, guests can take quintessential Williamsburg views and vistas of the Manhattan skyline.

Designed by Bushwick-based interior design firm Cl-oth Interiors, the decor includes light wood paneling, cream-tiled columns, and rattan furniture with moss-green upholstery, providing the ideal backdrop for the concept. Enhanced by ambient lighting and a lush array of tropical plants, Tatau Pool Lounge & Bar offers a seamless day-to-night atmosphere.

“We’re excited to bring a relaxing and unique experience for our guests and neighbors in our little piece of the borough,” says Hotel Indigo Williamsburg’s General Manager, Nicolas Daeppen. “Partnering up with our neighbors at Flyrite Tattoo gives the space an extra something special—sophistication and worldliness with a bit of edge, which is very Brooklyn.”

A colorful menu offers light bites and pool-friendly options evocating a tropical seaside locale, including items like Samoan Chicken and Coconut RiceGrilled Pineapple Skewers, and Crab Napoleon. The beverage menu is anchored by tiki-inspired libations, including frozen drinks, original creations, classic cocktails, select beers, white and rosé wines, and spirit-free options. Offerings include the Frozen Zombie Beach (Leblon Cachaça, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Lairds’ Applejack Bonded Brandy, lime, pineapple), Frozen Watermelon Diablo (Cazadores Tequila, watermelon, ginger, lime), Balinese Samba (Leblon Cachaça, Butterfly Pea Flower-infused Banks 5 Island Rum, pineapple juice, coconut, lime, mole bitters), Dawn Patrol (Grey Goose vodka, Scrappy Lavender Bitters, lemon, sparkling wine, lavender sugar rim, and the Ohana Old Fashioned (Santa Teresa Rum, Ron Zacapa 23yr Rum, Angostura Bitters, Regans’ Orange Bitters, Demerara syrup, Laphroaig Islay Scotch rinse).

Seasonal access to the pool and lounge will be open for hotel guests included as part of their stay.
