Partnership Gives Museum Percentage of All Books Sold to Customers Using Special Code During Month of June

Holocaust Museum LA and Barnes & Noble at The Grove have partnered for Bookfair this month, which will include three author talks at the store. Holocaust Museum LA also will receive a percentage of sales of any books sold to customers, either in-store at The Grove or online, who use a promotional code for their purchases between June 1-30.

In honor of Holocaust Survivor Day, Sunday, June 4, at 2 p.m. the museum presents “Holocaust Survivor Memoirs: A Panel Discussion” with survivors/authors Gabriella Karin, Eva Perlman and Susanne Reyto.

Gabriella Karin’s memoir “Trauma, Memory, and the Art of Survival” chronicles her time in hiding during the Holocaust as well as her life after the war. She eventually settled in Los Angeles where she dedicated her life to Holocaust education and became an acclaimed sculptor.

Eva Perlman, in her memoir “Eva’s Uncommon Life: Guided by Miracles,” tells her extraordinary life story that begins with hiding in the south of France during World War II, narrowly escaping capture by the Nazis. She ultimately found her purpose as a Holocaust survivor educating Jewish teens on the annual March of the Living. Perlman brings pearls of wisdom, humor and joy to her tale of love, loss and choosing happiness.

In “Destination Freedom: Escape From Tyranny,” Susanne Reyto, born just six days before Nazi Germany occupied Hungary, traces her life story from her early years living with her mother in “protected houses” to living under communism and finally to settling in America.

On Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m., Holocaust Museum LA presents a talk with Wah Chen, coauthor (with her identical twin sister Ming) of “Escape: One Day We Had to Run.” The family picture book features remarkable true stories of escape showing how courageous people all around the world have overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in their flight to freedom. The BBC hailed it as an “… extraordinary achievement is that it is still such a delight to read.”

On Tuesday, June 15, at 7 p.m., Holocaust Museum LA presents a talk with author Steve Ross about his book “Hitler in Los Angeles.” Ross’ book, a 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist, is the chilling, little-known true story of the rise of Nazism in Los Angeles and the Jewish leaders and spies recruited who stopped it.

To use the promo code, visit bn.com/bookfairs from June 1-30, or shop in-store at The Grove and enter book fair ID 12650289 at checkout.
