David Rubenstein to Interview Al Pacino for New Talks Series, People Who Inspire Us, at 92NY

As part of its 150th anniversary celebration, The 92nd Street Y, New York presents the new series “People Who Inspire Us,” which features distinguished figures in American cultural life who have used their prominence in a meaningful way to change the world.

The series kicks off on Wednesday, April 19 at 7 pm ET with iconic actor Al Pacino, who will discuss his remarkable career. One of the great actors of our time, Pacino’s appearances at 92NY in 1996 and 2014 are the stuff of legend. In a rare appearance, he will discuss the personal history behind his craft — ranging from his early theater work to his breakout roles in The Godfather, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon to his magnetic recent appearances in The Irishman and his new Amazon series, Hunters. People who Inspire Us: A 150th Anniversary Series is moderated and supported by philanthropist and financier David Rubenstein and is part of 92NY’s 40-year old Recanati-Kaplan Talks series, the premier forum for conversation in the nation – where thought leaders and culture shapers have come to engage in the kind of unparalleled talks that leave the rest of us talking, and that open hearts and minds.

Al Pacino is best known for playing Michael Corleone in The Godfather trilogy, Tony Montana in Scarface and Frank Serpico in Serpico. In his over 40 film career he has been nominated for 8 Oscars, and 11 Golden Globes. He won an Emmy for his performance as Roy Cohn in Angels in America, and most recently was nominated for an Emmy in HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack. He won both an Academy Award and Golden Globe for playing Lt. Col Frank Slade in Scent of a Woman. He will be starring on Broadway this fall in the critically acclaimed Public Theatre production of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Pacino has also received numerous lifetime achievement awards including one from the American Film Institute.
