A variety of programming welcomes community members to the Museum
The Brooklyn Museum announces its lineup of April programming, featuring a Brooklyn Talk with Dr. Jane Goodall in honor of Earth Month, our final Art History Happy Hour of the season, and a discussion between Thierry Mugler’s famed muses Joey Arias, Dianne Brill, and Stella Ellis. Additional programs include classes, tours, and special events that amplify the Museum’s exhibitions and collections, serve the surrounding community, and support learning through the visual arts.
Museum Members enjoy complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs.

Celebrate National Poetry Month and the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop with a lineup of poets and artists who activate language’s power to connect and express.
Poetry Workshop: I See You Face to Face Tuesday, April 4, 6–9 pm Robert E. Blum Gallery, 1st Floor
Tickets are $40 and include a complimentary notebook.
Take part in an intimate poetry-writing workshop with Cea (Constantine Jones), a poet and Visual AIDS Oral History Project Liaison, and Drew Sawyer, Phillip and Edith Leonian Curator of Photography.

Curator Talk: Legacies of African Art Saturday, April 8, 2–4 pm

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the process of exhibiting, honoring, and reflecting on African art at the Brooklyn Museum, in celebration of the International Day of Provenance Research. Join Sills Foundation Curator of African Art Ernestine White- Mifetu, Arts of Africa Postdoctoral Fellow Annissa Malvoisin, and Coordinator of Provenance Meghan Bill for an intimate walkthrough of Sakimatwemtwe: A Century of Reflection on the Arts of Africa, commemorating a watershed exhibition mounted at the Museum in 1923.

Art History Happy Hour: Blossoms Thursday, April 20, 7–8:30 pm

Tickets are $45 and include a specialty cocktail, small bites, and after-hours admission to Arts of Asia and the Islamic World.
Our season of Art History Happy Hours concludes with a celebration of flowers, just as spring blossoms are reaching full bloom. Learn about the language of flowers in Asian art with Joan Cummins, Lisa and Bernard Selz Senior Curator of Asian Art, and hear insights from Valentine Leung of Park Deli about this neighborhood destination for flowers and creativity. Plus, enjoy a special cocktail from Kenta Goto’s local spot Bar Goto Niban, known for incorporating Japanese ingredients into its unique drinks and bar snacks.
Brooklyn Reads: We Are a Haunting with Tyriek White Thursday, April 27, 7–9 pm

Writer, musician, and educator Tyriek Rashawn White returns to his hometown for the release of his debut novel, We Are a Haunting, which traces three generations of a working-class Brooklyn family and their inherited ghosts.
