Last year, on March 26th, the Citizens branch in Little Ukraine, East Village and members of the community helped artist Misha Tyutyunik paint a mural titled, “UKRAINE: A HISTORY IN SOLIDARITY.” In addition to the mural, Citizens matched $25K in funds donated directly to the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA).
One year later, the mural still stands, the war rages on and Citizens has renewed its support for Ukrainian refugees through its support for World Central Kitchen.
You’re invited to attend a community gathering around art in the East Village on Saturday, 2/25 from 12-2pm. The invite with additional details is below:
- Misha will lead a second community art project – collectively painting a large panel to be displayed and donated to local Ukrainian business and community hub, Veselka.
- Postcards of the mural will be available at the sidewalk event and branches across New York City. You’re encouraged to send messages of support to Ukrainians. Our goal is to get 365 postcards marking each day of the war – these postcards will be collected at the bank and Ukrainian Museum from Feb 25th – March 25th.
- This sidewalk community event will, once again, bring together neighborhood businesses.
