Joel Grey, Steven Skybell, and Zalmen Mlotek with Tovah Feldshuh
Sun, Oct 30, 7 pm, from $25
Miracle of miracles! National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s beloved Off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish is back this November in a seven-week return engagement at New World Stages, directed by Academy Award and Tony winner Joel Grey and starring Steven Skybell, who reprises his role as Tevye, a funny and honest milkman navigating family and faith in the little Russian shtetl of Anatevka. The evening will feature Joel Grey discussing the genesis of the production, Steven Skybell on preparing for a role in a language you don’t know, Mlotek on the resurgence of Yiddish interest – and cast members performing Fiddler’s signature songs. Don’t miss this preview of the buzzy, Drama Desk Award-winning production of one of the greatest musicals ever written.

ART IS LIFE: JERRY SALTZ IN CONVERSATION WITH ROBERTA SMITH
Mon, Oct 31, 7:30 pm, from $25
Join Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic and New York Times-bestselling author Jerry Saltz on his new book, Art Is Life: Icons and Iconoclasts, Visionaries and Vigilantes, and Flashes of Hope in the Night — a candid, funny, deeply intelligent look at the role of the artist in contemporary culture from one of our era’s defining art critics. Offering characteristically sharp appraisals of Kara Walker, David Wojnarowicz, Hilma af Klint, Jasper Johns, Marina Abramović, and many more, Saltz gets to the heart of how artists help shape culture, and why they must be fearless. Hear him discuss why artists are uniquely positioned to show us a window into our time, the work that’s most exciting to him right now, stories about artists that didn’t make it into the book, and more. Jerry will do in-person book signing following the event.

PRESERVING DEMOCRACY: INFORMATION DISORDER AND THE 2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS
A Conversation with Chris Krebs and Cecilia Kang
Thu, Nov 3, 7 pm, FREE with registration – here
The threats posed by misinformation and disinformation loom large ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. In addition to worries about foreign information influence operations, we face a growing threat from domestic-born campaigns. What are the most significant risks facing the upcoming elections and what can we do to counter them and protect democratic processes? Join Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency founding director and Aspen Digital’s Senior Newmark Fellow in Cybersecurity Policy, Chris Krebs, and award-winning technology journalist and bestselling author, Cecilia Kang, for an in-depth, timely discussion on the battle for the truth in our elections. Krebs, who was fired via tweet by former President Donald Trump for upholding the validity of the 2020 election, will share his insights and expertise with Kang, who co-authored the bestseller, An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination. This conversation is co-presented with Aspen Digital, and is a prelude to the upcoming Aspen Cyber Summit on November 16, 2022, hosted at the 92nd Street Y, New York, in person and online.
