Service Changes To Take Effect Sunday, September 18
Bus Customers Should Expect Longer Travel Times
Subways Will Operate On Regular Weekday Schedule
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding customers to prepare for service changes and anticipated delays due to increased security surrounding the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, happening on Manhattan’s East Side. During the week of September 19 through September 23, the United Nations General Assembly high-level session will take place causing significant traffic gridlock. Customers traveling in the area via bus should allow for additional travel time to get to and from their destinations.
The M15, M15-SBS, M34-SBS, M42, M50, SIM1C, SIM3C, SIM4C, SIM10, SIM8, SIM8X SIM25, SIM31, SIM23, and SIM24, will all experience service alterations as follows:
- Northbound stops along 1 Av from 39th St to Mitchell Pl will be closed beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday September 19 until September 23.
- Buses will make stops before and after bypassed stops on 1 Av at 38th St and 50th St.
- No M34-SBS service between Waterside Plaza and 2nd Ave at E 28th St beginning 5:00 AM Mon Sep 19 until Sep 23
- The last eastbound stop will be made on 2nd Ave at E 30th St.
- For westbound service board buses on E 34th St at 1st Ave.
- Eastbound missed stops: 2nd Ave at E 28th St, Along E 23rd St from 2nd Ave to Avenue C, E 34th St at 1st Ave, Waterside at Waterside (Waterside Plaza at FDR Dr)
- Westbound missed stops: Waterside at Waterside 1 and Waterside 2, Ferry Terminal at FDR Dr
- Service along M42, E 42nd St/E 41st St between 2nd Ave and the FDR will be suspended beginning at 4:00 a.m. Monday September 19 until Friday, September 23.
- The last eastbound stop will be made on E 42nd St at 2nd Ave before the intersection.
- For westbound service, board buses at the stop on E 42nd St at 3rd Ave.
- Missed stops in both directions: E 42nd St at 2nd Ave and 1st Ave and E 41st St at 1 Ave
- M50 buses will be detoured from E 49th St/E 50th St between Madison Ave and Lexington Ave.
- The last stops on E 49th St at 1st Ave will be closed beginning 12:01 a.m. Sun, Sep 18 until Sep 26
- For westbound service, use the stops on E 49th St at 3rd Ave or Madison Ave.
- For eastbound service, use the stops on E 50th St at 5th Ave or Lexington Ave.
- The first and last stop will be on E 50th St at 2nd Ave.
SIM1C, SIM3C, SIM4C, SIM10:
- Southbound SIM1C, SIM3, SIM3C, SIM4C, SIM10 and SIM33C stops on W 57th St at 6th Ave and along 5th Ave from W 55th to W 51st St will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sep 13 until Tuesday, Sep 27
- For 57th St service, please use the stop on Central Park South at 6th Ave.
- For 5th Ave service, buses will make stops on 7th Ave between W 57th St and W 50th St.
SIM8, SIM8X SIM25:
- Southbound SIM8, SIM8X and SIM25 stops on E 57th St at Madison Ave and along 5th Ave from W 57th St to W 42nd St will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sep 13 until Tuesday, Sep 27
- For 57th St service please board buses on E 57th St at Lexington Ave.
- For 5th Ave service, buses will make stops along Lexington Ave between E 57th St and E 42nd St.
- Southbound SIM31 stops on E 57th St at Madison Ave and on 5th Ave at W 51st St will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sep 13 until Tuesday, Sep 27
- For 57th St service, please use the stop on E 57th St at Lexington Ave.
- For 5th Ave service, buses will make a stop on Lexington Ave at E 51st St.
- Southbound SIM23 and SIM24 stops along 5th Ave from W 59th to W 51st St will be closed beginning Tuesday, Sep 13 until Tuesday, Sep 27
- The first southbound stop will be made on Central Park South at 5th Ave.
- Buses will then make stops along 7th Ave between Central Park South and W 50th St.
*Note the start times of service changes are subject to change at the NYPD’s discretion.
Customers can avoid heavy traffic by using the nearby Lexington Avenue 4, 5, 6 line which will operate on a normal weekday schedule. Trains will run at least every two to three minutes and even more frequently during rush hour when vehicular traffic is expected to be at its most congested.
