Lane Closures Planned This Week at the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing

JFK Airport’s Green Garage Closed for New Terminal Construction; Parking for Terminals 1 and 2 Available at Terminal 8’s Red Garage

Combined AirTrain JFK Station 1 & 2 Now Provides Train Service for Airport Terminals 1 and 2

REMINDER: LaGuardia Link Q70 is Fare-Free Year-Round

For the week of Aug. 12 to 18, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey encourages all travelers who use the agency’s facilities to plan ahead and consider additional travel time due to the lane closures or service changes detailed below.

LANE CLOSURES IN EFFECT 

George Washington Bridge:

• On Friday, Aug. 12, and again on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 11 p.m. each night to 8 a.m. the following morning, three westbound lanes on the upper level will be closed. New Jersey-bound motorists can use the lower level.
• From 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, two westbound lanes on the upper level Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed. New Jersey-bound motorists can use the lower level.
• From 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, the 179^th Street ramp will be closed. New Jersey-bound motorists can use the lower level.
• From 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, all eastbound lanes on the lower level will be closed. New York-bound motorists can use the upper level.
• From 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, one eastbound lane on the upper level Trans-Manhattan Expressway will be closed.
• From 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, the ramp from the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway to eastbound lanes on the lower level will be closed. Bronx-bound motorists can exit at 178^th Street.
• On Saturday, Aug.13, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. one westbound lane on the upper level will be closed.
• On Saturday, Aug. 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. one westbound lane on the upper level to the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway will be closed.
• From 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, three eastbound lanes on the upper level will be closed. New York-bound motorists can use the lower level.
• From 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, the ramp from the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway to eastbound lanes on the upper level will be closed. New York-bound motorists can exit at Hudson Terrace.

Holland Tunnel:

• From 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, the right turn lane from Hudson Street onto Canal Street in Manhattan will be closed.
• From 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, multiple lanes will be closed on Hudson Street approaching Canal Street in Manhattan.
• From 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, the New York-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed due to ongoing Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. The New Jersey-bound tube remains open at all times during work.
• From 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, to 5 a.m. the following morning, and on multiple overnights through fall 2022, the New York-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed due to ongoing Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. • From Sunday, Aug. 14, through Thursday, Aug. 18, from 11:59 p.m. each night to 5:30 a.m. the following morning, one westbound lane will be closed.
• From Monday, Aug. 15, through Friday, Aug. 19, from 11 p.m. each night to 5:30 a.m. each morning, multiple lanes will be closed on Hudson Street approaching Canal Street in Manhattan.

Lincoln Tunnel:

• From 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, one approach lane from Galvin Avenue to the north tube will be closed. The north tube and all other approach lanes from 40^th Street and Galvin Avenue will remain open.
• From 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, the south tube will be closed. New York-bound traffic will be diverted to the center tube, and New Jersey-bound traffic in the north tube will not be affected.
• From 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, the south tube will be closed. New York-bound traffic will be diverted to the center tube, and New Jersey-bound traffic in the north tube will not be affected.

Bayonne Bridge:

• From 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to 5 a.m. Saturday, August 13, one lane on the northbound New Jersey Route 440 ramp over JFK Boulevard will be closed.

Goethals Bridge:

• From 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, to 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, one eastbound lane will be closed.

Outerbridge Crossing:

• From Monday, Aug.15, through Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following morning, one eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be closed.
• From 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, to 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, one eastbound lane will be closed.

AIRPORTS & AIRTRAIN

• LaGuardia Link Q70 bus service is now fare free year-round to encourage the use of public transit to and from LaGuardia Airport. For details on New York Gov. • To manage on-airport parking demand, the Port Authority is urgently calling on air travelers to pre-book parking spaces if they plan to travel to the agency’s airports by private car. Travelers who do not pre-book will be charged a summer peak period surcharge. Click here for more information.

• John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Green Garage and AirTrain Station 2 have closed for demolition activities associated with the construction of JFK’s new Terminal One. For AirTrain JFK service to terminals 1 and 2, customers should use the combined AirTrain JFK station 1 & 2 (formerly Terminal 1 station). Parking for terminals 1 and 2 is available at the Red Garage at Terminal 8.
• Until further notice, AirTrain JFK service at the airport terminals operates in a single direction due to scheduled track work at AirTrain station Terminal 1&2. Customers should allot extra time for their travel to the terminals.

PATH

• The southwest entrance to the Harrison station is closed at all hours to accommodate demolition work ahead of a renovation of the station. During construction, riders are required to use traffic signal pedestrian crossings at Angelo Cifelli Drive and Guyon Drive to access a corresponding station house on the opposite side of Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard. 
• Customers who use the WTC PATH station during overnights should use the street level entrances at Fulton Street or Vesey Street via the North Concourse in the 2 World Trade Center Transit Lobby. Oculus access is limited overnight from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. to allow for enhanced cleaning and the safety and security of customers due to reduced traffic volumes. • As a reminder, the 9 Street and 23 Street stations are closed from each midnight to 5 a.m. for maintenance. Nearby PATH stations at Christopher Street, 14 Street and 33 Street remain open 24 hours a day unless otherwise noted.

COVID-19 TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

• The Port Authority will continue to follow the guidance of the New York and New Jersey public health authorities with respect to mask mandates at its public transportation facilities.

Per current New York public health guidance, the mask mandate remains in effect for the following New York facilities:

–                Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal

–                George Washington Bridge Bus Station

–                World Trade Center Oculus Transportation Hub

–                LaGuardia Airport

–                John F. Kennedy International Airport

–                New York Stewart International Airport

Per newly issued New Jersey public health guidance, the mask mandate has been lifted for the following New Jersey facilities, but masks are now optional and welcome for all who choose to wear them:

–                Newark Liberty International Airport

–                Teterboro Airport

The mask mandate remains in effect for the interstate PATH system (including stations and platforms with the exception of open-air platforms).
