DOT is seeking concessionaires for the development, operation, and maintenance of an outdoor market with an optional kiosk at Fordham Plaza in the Bronx
The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking concessionaires for the development, operation, and maintenance of an outdoor market with an optional kiosk at Fordham Plaza, located at Fordham Road, Third Avenue and East 189th Street in the Bronx. The RFP was issued on July 19, 2022.
“The reconstructed Fordham Plaza has helped create a vibrant, welcoming community space for tens of thousands of Bronxites,” said New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. “We’re excited to find a concessionaire to complement this great work and serve high-quality products to the students, shoppers and commuters who enjoy this major hub every day.”
DOT is seeking qualified individuals or entities with experience in the operation of food, beverage and/or merchandise services. The operation of this Concession is intended to be of a premium quality in terms of both design and items for sale. It should enhance the ambience of the Plaza and community while providing a healthy culinary experience for the public. This concession opportunity is available for the approximately 24,328 square foot Licensed Premises with an optional Kiosk Licensed Premises of approximately 2,080 square feet.

DOT strongly recommends proposers to attend the remote proposer meeting scheduled on August 2, 2022 at 10AM. Meeting ID and Passcode as well as a hyperlink can be found in the Notice of Solicitation and RFP documents on the City Record. All proposals must be submitted no later than Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM. The successful proposer for the outdoor market concession would enter into a two-year agreement, with two two-year renewal options and one three-year renewal option, for a total potential term of nine years.
Fordham Plaza is an economic, cultural, and major transportation hub in the Bronx. The reconstructed plaza has been expanded to over 75,000 square feet, and features enhanced pedestrian and vehicular traffic circulation and bus facilities on the surrounding streets. Plaza amenities include plantings, wayfinding, pedestrian lighting, and seating.
