Endurance Athlete, World Record-Holder and Entrepreneur Colin O’Brady Aims to Inspire with New Adventure, “The 12-Hour Walk”

O’Brady Applies His Own Experience in Overcoming Obstacles to Motivate Everyone to Achieve Goals With New Book and Global Movement

In 2018, Colin O’Brady spent 54 days on the landmass Antarctica, alone, trekking 12-hours every day, unassisted, against blistering winds and bone-chilling temperatures to become the world’s first to make it across. Shortly thereafter, Colin (and the crew) set another “world-first” by crossing of the deadly Drake Passage (between Antarctica and South America) in a rowboat.

All told, O’Brady has set 10 amazing record-breaking firsts and he attributes his success not to any physical prowess—but to his mindset (check out the sizzle reel here).

His book, The 12-Hour Walk: Invest One Day, Conquer Your Mind, and Unlock Your Best Life (Scribner; August 2nd), is part adventure memoir, part primer on setting aside “limiting beliefs.”—inspired by Colin’s own struggle after an accident charred 25% of his body and he was told he would never walk normally again. He went on to win the Chicago Triathlon 18 months later.

With this book, Colin aims to get 10 million people off the couch and on their own transformative 12-hour walks to overcome limiting beliefs and unlock life’s possibilities. From enduring a deadly ascent of the second tallest mountain in the world, the Karakoram’s K2 to summiting Mt. Everest twice, Colin’s adventure stories empower us to free ourselves from limiting beliefs and conquer our minds to take on any goal or endeavor. Colin can discuss:

·        How to identify and conquer your personal “Everest.”

·        How to harness the power of physical wellness for mental health.

·        How a 10-day silent meditation retreat changed his life.

·        How custom nutrition and a unique training philosophy led to world first success.

·        How growing up on an organic farm informed his ideals and values around wellness.

·        How intuition saved his life on a fatal K2 expedition.

·        How to reframe the loneliness of remote work to obtain mental clarity.

·        How he plans to ignite a global movement of 10 million people around The 12-Hour Walk

The yield in mental toughness and enhanced focus for all who finish will be immense. To inspire and instruct readers, the book is embedded with QR codes that link to the feats Colin describes. In addition, there will be a massive, online-supported 12-HOUR WALK community that participants can become a part of. Readers can refer to 12hourwalk.com to learn more.

He is also the author of The New York Times bestseller The Impossible First.
