The James Beard Foundation® announces the Taste America culinary series will take place in Los Angeles on July 27, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. at NeueHouse Hollywood. Taste America, presented by Capital One, celebrates the chefs and local independent restaurants at the heart of our communities, bringing together chefs and food lovers for unique culinary experiences across 20 U.S. cities. Proceeds from Taste America will benefit the featured chefs to support their businesses as well as James Beard Foundation national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry. Now celebrating its ten-year anniversary, Taste America is taking expanded shape with the TasteTwenty—featuring 20 chef teams from 20 cities working together to champion the James Beard Foundation’s mission of Good Food for Good®. The series will highlight the richness and diversity of local food culture in cities across America, while spotlighting chefs who are uniquely aligned to the Foundation’s mission. Additionally, host and visiting chefs will be paired together for a chance to innovate and collaborate across different cities.

The Taste America Los Angeles tasting will feature nine food and beverage stations on the rooftop of NeueHouse Hollywood, bringing together the local culinary community and beyond. The event will feature visiting chef Shenarri Freeman from New York’s Cadence, as well as Natalia Pereira from Woodspoon; Christy Vega from Casa Vega (2022 America’s Classics Award winner); Margarita Manzke from République (2022 James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Pastry Chef); Michael and Kwini Reed from Poppy & Rose; Katianna and John Hong from Yangban; Vanda and Cathy Asapahu from Ayara Thai; and Nick Montgomery and Akira Akuto from Konbi. The event will also feature activations from valued national and local sponsors, including presenting sponsor Capital One, supporting sponsors 1800® Tequila and Kerrygold USA, patron sponsor Choose Chicago, additional support sponsor Mountain Valley Spring Water, and local partners Cali Distillery and Blinking Owl Distillery.

Over the course of the year, the series will showcase the breadth of culinary creativity across the country, while highlighting the positive impact chefs have in their communities and the industry at-large.
