Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five World Final finally kicks off in Doha on May 23-24.

More than 60 teams from 34 nations have arrived in Doha for the world’s biggest five-a-side football tournament as the mixed and women’s champions go up against Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr at the Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five World Final on May 24.

Here is all you need to know:

– Bringing together teams that progressed through their local qualifiers around the world to become national champions in 2021 and 2022, this year’s Qatar edition is set to be the biggest one yet.

– The teams will battle it out in the mixed and women’s categories and, for the first time, there’s the potential for derby matches where two teams from the same country could go head-to-head against each other.

– Not only that, there are no goalkeepers and every time a team scores, the opposition crucially lose a player with matches lasting for 10 minutes or until one team loses all five players.

– The Paris Saint-Germain forward said: “This tournament is so special. The format is really unique, the players are super skilful and I can’t wait to see them all in action. It’s the first Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five World Final in three years (due to the pandemic) and everyone is hyped.”

– Joining the national champions will be a trio of Neymar Jr’s Global Five teams from the last three years, each consisting of seven players who earned their ticket to the World Final by impressing the striker – who has over 100 caps for Brazil – with their tricks and skills on social media.

– The 30-year-old added: “The Jr’s Global Five teams really represent what this competition is all about. Players from different countries, who’ve never met before, coming together to celebrate their shared passion of football. There might be a language barrier, but these players always let their football do the talking.”

– The action kicks off with the group stage on May 23, followed by the knockout rounds on May 24, where Neymar Jr will personally crown two new mixed and women’s champions. He will then invite the winning teams to each play a Super Final against him and his friends.

– Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five World Final will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV on May 24 from 7:30pm local time (4:30pm GMT) and, for the first time, will be hosted by Qatar Foundation in Doha.
