Stop No.2 of the Challenger Series, the MEO Vissla Pro Ericeira has been called ON in wind-affected three-to-five foot surf at Ribeira d’Ilhas.

“The storm last night definitely conjured up a bit more swell and it’s supposed to build through the day so it was a no-brainer to kick-off this morning,” Travis Logie, Senior Manager, Tours & Competition said. “When you have this many heats there’s always going to be some trying conditions, but as long as there are opportunities for all four surfers that’s the main thing, and there’s plenty out there today.”

Pressure is at a maximum as competition gets underway in the second of four stops on the Challenger Series, the battleground for qualification into the Championship Tour.

A mix of current CT athletes, perennial QS threats and young guns have entered the MEO Vissla Pro Ericeira and are eager to get their Portuguese campaign underway.

World No.14 Deivid Silva (BRA) takes on Marco Giorgi (URY), Tristan Guilbaud (FRA) and Vicente Romero (ESP) in Heat 1 of the men’s Round of 96.
