The US Open of Surfing Huntington Beach presented by Shiseido, a World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series (CS) event, is back ON. Round 1 Heat 19 will start at 8:05am PDT in two-to-three foot conditions pulsing into the Huntington Beach Pier lineup. More of the world’s best and rising stars of both men’s and women’s surfing are set to make their debuts with women’s Round 1 set to follow men’s action.

Day two picks up with Round 1 Heat 19 featuring Peru’s Alonso Correa (PER) in a stacked heat against Weslley Dantas (BRA), Jordy Lawler (AUS), and 3X Jaws Big Wave victor Billy Kemper (HAW). 

Rounding off a star-studded Round 1, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Silver Medalist and two-time US Open victor Kanoa Igarashi (JPN) (Heat 24), Championship Tour (CT) competitor Matthew McGillivray (ZAF) (Heat 20), former CT surfers Wade Carmichael (AUS) (Heat 21) and Willian Cardoso (BRA) (Heat 20) debut. But, they will have to square off with the likes of world-renowned surfer Mason Ho (HAW), decorated QS East Coast threats Evan Geiselman (USA) (Heat 22), Michael Dunphy (USA) (Heat 22), Australia’s rising star Reef Heazlewood (AUS), and many more.

Some of the world’s best women are ready to kick things off and Round 1 Heat 1 will see recent Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro QS 3,000 winner, 2020/21 CT No. 6 Caroline Marks (USA) battling with The Ultimate Surfer star Tia Blanco(USA), Peru’s Daniella Rosas, and South Africa’s Natasha Van Greunen. ]

2020/21 CT Rookie of the Year Isabella Nichols (AUS) makes her debut in Round 1 Heat 9 alongside fellow event threats, former CT competitors Coco Ho (HAW) (Heat 8), Keely Andrew (AUS) (Heat 5), Pauline Ado (FRA) (Heat 6), Chelsea Tuach (BRB) (Heat 4) and Dimity Stoyle (AUS) (Heat 4). These world-class surfers will have to deal with rising stars such as 2018 World Junior Champion Kirra Pinkerton (USA) (Heat 3), and QS standout Samantha Sibley (USA) among many more.
