- Watch LIVE at WorldSurfLeague.com
The Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic presented by Corona, is ON starting at 7:05 a.m. AEST today in two-to-three foot, clean off-shore conditions. Men’s Elimination Round 2 will be up first, followed by women’s Elimination Round 2 and the men’s Round of 32.
“As expected, the south swell from yesterday has dropped off a bit,” said WSL SVP of Tours and Head of Competition, Jessi Miley-Dyer. “We still have some decent waves left over from that south swell, plus some waves from the east, meaning there is plenty of opportunity for competitors. We’re also expecting light winds to keep the surf clean like yesterday all day, so with that in mind we’re aiming for another big day of competition starting with the men’s Elimination Round at 7:05 a.m. local time, followed by the women’s Elimination Round then the men’s Round of 32.”
Three-time World Champion Mick Fanning (AUS) will be up first today in the men’s Elimination Round. He will be against Jeremy Flores (FRA) and Connor O’Leary (AUS). This event marks Fanning’s return to a CT jersey since his retirement in 2018.
The opening heat of the women’s Elimination Round will see local wildcard Laura Enever (AUS) taking on Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA) and two-time WSL Champion Tyler Wright (AUS) as all three competitors look to avoid an equal 33rd result at Narrabeen.
The Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic pres. by Corona opens April 16 and holds a competition window through April 26. The event will be broadcast LIVE on WorldSurfLeague.com and the free WSL app. Also, check local listings for coverage from the WSL’s broadcast partners.
For fans wishing to attend the event in person, event entry will be first-come, first-serve starting at 7:00 a.m. AEST on each ‘on’ day of competition. The venue capacity will be limited to a maximum of 5,000 people at one time, adhering closely to NSW state government guidelines. This capacity limit is subject to change each day due to beach size changing with tides and swell size. To learn more, please check out the WSL’s event guide for more information and FAQs.
