Though we’ve faced many challenges during the pandemic, we are incredibly grateful that you’ve stood with us and that we’ve been able to continue engaging with you through our digital programming and events since the shutdown began last March.
The Public and our fellow arts and culture non-profit organizations throughout the nation have a long road ahead to recovery, but because of the tireless and successful efforts of Congress and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, the road ahead is looking brighter.
Throughout the many months that Congress deliberated over COVID relief, Senator Schumer worked to secure aid for New York City’s cultural institutions with the Save Our Stages Act in the final relief package. Save Our Stages will provide grants to help nonprofit performing arts organizations, museums, and zoos stay afloat during the crisis so we can fully reopen and recover when we emerge from the pandemic.
Senator Schumer and his staff were fierce and tireless advocates for theaters as this last relief bill came together. We are immensely grateful to the Senator and his office for their devotion to the theater, the arts, and the people of New York.
Please join us by taking a moment and thanking your elected officials who advocated for and supported Save Our Stages. Federal assistance is critical to keeping our industry alive and is an important next step in arts and culture institutions being able to return and reopen. We look forward to that time ahead and our continued partnership.
The Public is Theater Of, By, and For All People.
