With the new year comes a new chance to take on the climate emergencyand a new hope that our ingenuity and activism can set us down a path to a safer and more sustainable future.

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge in the UK, has launched The Earthshot Prize— a global environment award aiming to bring about change and inspire collective action to protect our planet. The winners will get a massive boost to help supercharge their projects.

Global Citizen is an official nominator and we want to hear from you about game changing nominees — groups or individuals — doing incredible work to safeguard the environment. Click here to suggest a nominee and we’ll submit the top recommendations to Earthshot for review by a panel of expert judges.

2020 was a tough year. Not only have we battled against COVID-19, we also lost ground in the fight to safeguard the planet. But The Earthshot Prize offers an unprecedented opportunity to help get us back on track.

There are five Earthshot awards, one for each of the following categories:

  1. Protect and Restore Nature
  2. Clean Our Air
  3. Revive Our Oceans
  4. Build a Waste-Free World
  5. Fix Our Climate

If you’re doing exceptional work to address one of these challenges, or if you know others that are, click here to suggest a nomination.

Submissions close 10 January so don’t leave it too late!
