We invite you and your students to join us for a 40-minute interactive lesson that explores works of art from the Whitneyโs collection and current exhibitions. On view through January 2021,ย Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925โ1945ย reveals the profound impact Mexican muralists had on their United States counterparts. With nearly 200 works by over sixty Mexican and American artists, this exhibition showcases epic narratives about American history and everyday life and shows how art was used to protest economic, social and racial injustices. Using close-looking and discussion-based activities students explore American art while learning from artists and each other.
Whitney educators can accommodate your classโ needs and curricular interests, and lessons can be offered in Spanish. NYC Public Schools can participate free of charge, and all other schools can join with a fee of $150 per class. To book a lesson, fill out the formย here.
