Two Weddings, Two Surprise Proposals, and a Vow Renewal on the Red Steps

On Valentine’s Day, New Yorkers and visitors looking for romance in New York City will find it at the Crossroads of the World with Love in Times Square, presented by David’s Bridal and Sezzle. Each year, lovers surprise their partners with marriage proposals under Times Square’s iconic Everest (formerly American Eagle) screen; couples tie the knot on Duffy Square; and New Yorkers and visitors renew their vows on the Red Steps. These real-life love stories will unfold in front of a new sculpture presented by Times Square Arts.  More details to come about this artwork.

“Valentine’s Day is a great day for us to celebrate love at the Crossroads of the World,” said Tom Harris, President of the Times Square Alliance.  “The hundreds of thousands of people walking through Times Square that day will be greeted by surprise proposals and weddings and many will stay and renew their vows on the Red Steps; all in time for them to see a Broadway show, have a great meal at one of our restaurants, and enjoy all that Times Square has to offer.”

Love in Times Square will follow this schedule on Valentine’s Day:
11:00 am – Wedding #1
11:30 am – Surprise Proposal #1 on the Everest billboard
12:00 pm – Wedding #2
12:30 pm – Surprise Proposal #2 on the Everest billboard
6:00 pm – Vow Renewal Ceremony on the Red Steps (Registrations can be made HERE)

Details about the couples will be available on-site at the event and they will be available for interviews after their big moment.  Please reach out to TJ Witham at tjwitham@tsq.org for any specific requests.

  • Beginning at 6:00 pm, a celebration of love and commitment will take place outside on the iconic Red Steps in Times Square.  The ceremony is free and open to people of all ages, genders, religions, races, and backgrounds and will include a live performance from the cast of Broadway’s Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).  Those interested in participating can register HERE.

Love in Times Square is presented by David’s Bridal and Sezzle, who will be onsite bringing high-energy Valentine’s Day activities to Times Square. Throughout the day, David’s Bridal will surprise couples and visitors with a love themed photo moment within an immersive installation, and generous giveaways – including the chance to win a free wedding gown, curated gift bags, and scratch-off surprises – creating a true “only in New York” celebration of love.

“We’re proud to partner with the Times Square Alliance and Sezzle to turn one of the world’s most iconic stages into a celebration of modern love,” said Lisa Horton, Chief Communications & Creative Officer at David’s Bridal. “David’s very-own CEO, Kelly Cook, will officiate one of the day’s special weddings reflecting how David’s Bridal leads today–through inclusive, high-impact experiences that bring our brand to life in unforgettable ways. It will be such a joyous, powerful extension of how David’s shows up for couples during all of life’s most meaningful celebrations.”

“Love in Times Square celebrates life’s most meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime moments,” said Charlie Youakim, Co-founder and CEO of Sezzle. “At Sezzle, we believe those moments shouldn’t be overshadowed by financial stress. That’s why we’re proud to support this celebration alongside David’s Bridal, championing flexibility and peace of mind when it matters most.”

Footage and images of the Valentine’s Day Love in Times Square events will be available upon request after the event.
