This exciting expert tour will provide an overview of the different plants (and insects!) used as natural dyes in the Middle Ages to create some of the most iconic tapestries from The MET collection, including the King Arthur tapestry. Accompany the Museum’s experts, such as curators, curators, scientists, and academics, to delve into a selection of objects exhibited in the rooms. Learn about new perspectives and stories never told by The Met experts and observe the works of art in more detail. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

In this talk, discover the different plants (and insects!) used as natural dyes in medieval times to create some of the most emblematic tapestries of The Met Collection, such as King Arthur’s tapestry, one of the first acquisitions of the Museum of the Nine Heroes series.

Free with admission to the Museum. The ticket price is at the discretion of the resident visitor of New York State and is free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult and for the caregiver accompanying a visitor with a disability.
